Program Description:
To reach the educational goal which will enable graduates to successfully develop, administer, and evaluate environmental and occupational health programs, MPH students are trained not only to recognize environmental and occupational hazards and their effect on health but to assess their social and economic impacts. Students also must be made cognizant of both new and existing regulations which affect the field at local, state, and national levels. They further must become acquainted with enforcement procedures and processes in law and policy development. A special project, field placement, and comprehensive exam are required. Students seeking and MSPH specialize in any of the environmental and occupational health areas with an intense research and technical program of study. This degree program focuses on preparing students to fill leadership roles in solving or containing environmental and industrial or occupational health problems. Individualized courses of study are determined for students with the cooperation of an advisory committee. A thesis is required in addition to the Comprehensive Examination.
