Program Description:

The MPHID is an innovative course combining development expertise from the Departments of Geography, Town & Regional Planning and the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR).

Combining engagements with contemporary public health and development theory, policy and practice, you develop expertise in the health needs and interventions appropriate to the public health challenges encountered in international development. Emphasis on applied knowledge and skills means graduates are experienced in negotiating the application of theory into practice in challenging environments.

Suited for those seeking to pursue careers in public health, development and beyond, this course develops professional skills and hands-on practice in the global south through a core fieldtrip and placement-based dissertation.
The course aims to develop student expertise in understanding the health needs and interventions necessary to improve the health of communities in the Global South through exploring the contemporary theory, policy and practice in public health and international development. The course provides specialised teaching to equip students with the skills to take on these challenges in public health and development workplaces.

International Student Requirements:

IELTS 7 (with at least 6.5 in each part), or TOEFL 600 (paper based) or TOEFL 250, TOEFL (iBT) 100 or above, or equivalent.
