Program Information

Degree Offered

M.A.-European Law, Politics and Governance

Format: Campus

Program Description:

Have you been looking for a Masters course in a top Russell Group university that explores the interface between politics and law? This programme is taught jointly by the School of Law and the Department of Politics, and will be of interest if you're a graduate in politics, law, social sciences or humanities.

To be a postgraduate student on this course is to benefit from the research activities of both the School of Law and the Department of Politics. Both are renowned for their cutting-edge, multidisciplinary research and for the high international profile of key staff. Both undertake research projects, hold conferences and regularly organise research seminars by visiting experts from the UK and abroad, acting as a forum for exchange of ideas between lawyers, political experts, historians and social scientists.

We'd expect you to have some level of knowledge of politics, law, European law or European governance and will help you systematically deepen your understanding of the interdisciplinary area where law and politics collide. The programme focuses on European integration and more specifically upon such intellectual themes as democracy, legitimacy, institutionalisation and constitutionalisation. Compulsory modules in European law, European governance and politics then broaden out to include a wide choice of options that allow you to choose the particular areas of intellectual concern that interest you most.

International Student Requirements:

IELTS 7.0 (with a minimum of 6.0 in each component), TOEFL 600 (paper based) or TOEFL 250 (computer based) or TOEFL 100 (iBT) or equivalent.
