Program Description:
The Graduate Program in Marine Affairs was established in 1969 for the interdisciplinary study of coastal/ocean management, policy, and law in the United States and around the world. Specialty areas of marine affairs include: fisheries law and management, coastal management, ports and maritime transportation, and national and international marine policy, institutions, and law. The central focus of this department is on integrated and ecosystem-based approaches to coastal/ocean management. Students have come to this program from all over the United States, some 35 countries, and with backgrounds in a variety of fields ranging from marine biology and oceanography to political science and journalism.
