Program Description:

The course conceptualises health care provision and the communication technologies it uses in terms ofcontemporary social communication theories, chiefly the actor-network approach to the social construction of technology. This conceptual framework is introduced in the first unit, 97510 Health Communication andTechnological Systems. Students are then introduced to the range of technologies currently employed inhealth service delivery in Australia and overseas in the unit BH546 Contemporary Health Delivery Infrastructure. These units are followed by the unit, 97511 Applications of Health Systems Technologies,where students are given opportunities to develop skills in the professional use and critique ofcomputerised health systems.
