Program Description:

The Department of Marine Sciences is a graduate department offering instruction leading to Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in marine sciences. The primary aim of the department is to train marine scientists for careers in teaching, research, and management of marine resources. Students specialize in biological, chemical, geological, or physical oceanography; fisheries biology; aquaculture; or through core courses and electives. Much of the teaching and research is carried out at the marine station, 22 miles south of Mayagƒez, but students are able to elect courses in other departments and to use facilities at the computer center and the Research Development Center.
