Program Description:
The M.S. program is a two-year intensive program focusing on enhancing the knowledge base in the prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses. Students are provided with clinical experiences in both athletic training and sports medicine facilities and laboratory experiences in the Neuromuscular Sports Medicine Research Laboratory.
The PhD program is structured to provide coursework int he major academic areas of sports medicine, physiology, research methodology, statistics, anatomy and pathokinesiology. Students are provided extensive experience in the Neuromuscular Sports Medicine Research Laboratory within the UPMC Sports Performance Complex, Center for Sports Medicine. Weekly seminars sponsored by the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine provide students access to the most current research and clinical developments.
