Program Description:
Graduate study and research in the department lead to the Master of Science in Engineering and to the Doctor of Philosophy degrees. Areas of research include the mechanics of materials, fluid mechanics, mechanical systems, robotics, thermal sciences, energy conversion, and biomechanics. The research in the department is often interdisciplinary in nature and is done in close collaboration with faculty members from other departments, such as computer science, material science, and electrical engineering, and from other schools, such as the School of Medicine.
