Program Description:
The Higher Education program offers three degrees. Most students pursue the Master of Science in Education (M.S.Ed.) degree, a 10-course, 10-month program. There are two doctoral degrees as well. The Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree is the professional practitioner's degree, offering advanced professional study for those pursuing senior-level positions in higher education administration or higher education consulting. This degree is offered in a traditional semester format as well as an advanced and accelerated executive format. The Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree is limited to two or three new students a year--individuals who wish to become faculty and researchers in the field of higher education administration. Each of the three degree programs provides an understanding of the way colleges and universities work, explores the social, economic, and political context in which these institutions function, and teaches students how to analyze and make difficult management decisions.
