Program Description:
The Applied Psychology - Human Development Division provides students with a foundation in the core concepts of psychology, assessment evaluation, human development and field research. We encourage students to engage the challenge of framing major psychological, educational, and social questions well, of identifying and developing evidence bearing on those questions, and of working productively at the level of the individual, the community, the nation, and the world. Our orientation in psychological practice and research is toward learning what in educational contexts works better, when, and why, advancing our understanding of ways to characterize and resolve psychological and social problems, and fostering the use of that knowledge in professional practice and in educational and public policy contexts. Other programs within the division focus on the provision of psychological services (i.e. counseling various age groups).
