Program Description:

The Professional Counseling program faculty at The University of Northern Colorado is committed to the profession of school counseling. Thus, we actively recruit individuals who have the potential to become excellent school counselors. We are pleased to provide answers to typical questions prospective school counselors-in-training ask. The purpose of the school counseling program is to enhance and promote the learning process. The goal is to enable all students to achieve success in school and to develop into contributing members of society. School counseling programs ensure academic achievement for all children. Professional school counselors provide support through group counseling, individual counseling, classroom guidance curriculum, advocacy, and collaboration with teachers, parents, administrators, and other helping professionals. Graduates from University of Northern Colorado’s School Counseling Program are qualified to accept counseling positions in elementary, middle, and high schools. Because our program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), graduates are eligible to become National Certified Counselors.

The M.A. in School Counseling is offered on our University of Northern Colorado Greeley campus, Denver Center or Colorado Springs Center.
