Program Description:

The online Master of Science (MS) or Post-Master's Certificate in Nursing with a Nurse Educator Track prepares you to teach nursing students in academic, practice, and clinical settings.

Through the full- or part-time, online programs you will learn to:
-Develop, implement, revise, and evaluate nursing curricula.
-Understand the impact of societal and technological changes on nursing education.
-Apply education theory, research, and experiential knowledge in nursing education settings.
-Use a variety of teaching strategies appropriately when assuming the nurse educator role.
-Assess and evaluate processes as they relate to nursing education.

As a graduate of the programs, you will:
-Be qualified to teach nursing students in academic, practice, and clinical settings.
-Be experienced in nurse education theory, research and teaching strategies.
-Develop and evaluate patient-focused educational interventions and programs.
-Function effectively as a nursing staff educator and a nurse preceptor.
-Use clinical simulation education strategies in nursing and interdisciplinary settings.
-Positively impact the shortage of nursing faculty.

Designed for nurses with a bachelor's degree (master's for certificate) who are unable to attend traditional, on-campus classes. You will participate in most class activities at the time and place of your choice. You will also participate in "live" Web classes, which are held at set times that are convenient for most students. You are NOT required to come to campus at any time.

Pay in-state tuition rates for online courses regardless of where you live. Compared to paying the out-of-state tuition rate, this can translate into big savings for you!

Accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The University of North Dakota as a whole is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Eligibility Requirements:

DEGREE:
-Bachelor's degree in Nursing from a National League for Nursing (NLN) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accredited program.
-Minimum GPA of 3.00 for the last 2 years of your undergraduate program.
-Grade of C or higher in a statistics course (graduate or undergraduate level).
-Current RN licensure in the United States.
-Minimum of 1 year of experience as a registered nurse (preferred).
-Professional resume.
-Meet current health and immunization requirements of the UND College of Nursing before being permitted to enroll in a clinical nursing course.
CERTIFICATE:
-Master’s degree in Nursing.
-Current registered nurse (RN) licensure.

International Student Requirements:

If English is not your native language, you must complete the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) prior to admission. If you have received a bachelor's degree or higher from the United States or English-speaking Canada, you are not required to fulfill the English test requirement.
