Program Description:
The fully online Instructional Design & Technology (IDT) programs prepare you for service in education, business, government and industry by teaching you how to enhance instruction and learning through the use of technology. Learn how to use the latest technology to develop effective instruction, whether it is for the corporate training room or the public school classroom.
With the online IDT programs, you will:
-Study the latest technology and its uses for teaching and learning.
-Use a process that is part science and part art to develop effective instruction, whether that is for the corporate training room or the public school classroom.
-Analyze, design, develop, implement and evaluate technology-based instruction that is effective and reflects sound ID principles.
-Develop computer-based instruction, multimedia, web-based instruction, video-based instruction, and even simulations and games for learning.
-Design learning for anyone, any time, on any topic, and in any format.
The programs are designed for working professionals. You will participate in online "live" Web classes held at set times that are convenient for you, such as in evenings and/or weekends. You are NOT required to come to campus at any time.
Pay in-state tuition rates for online courses regardless of where you live. Compared to paying the out-of-state tuition rate, this can translate into big savings for you!
Accreditation:
Accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The IDT programs follow the curriculum standards established by the Association for Educational Communications & Technology (AECT) and the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).
The University of North Dakota as a whole is regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
Eligibility Requirements:
MASTER'S DEGREE programs:
-Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a field of study in the area or discipline appropriate to the field in which you intend to work.
-If pursing the Master of Education (MEd) degree, you must have a minimum of 18 undergraduate credits in education-related courses.
-Cumulative undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 or above, or an undergraduate junior/senior year GPA of 3.00 or better, or a graduate GPA of at least 3.50.
-Basic knowledge of the microcomputer and substantial skill in using standard applications to produce work projects.
-Submission of a statement outlining your goals and objectives for seeking the graduate degree in IDT.
-Submission of 3 letters of recommendation from those who can comment on your academic abilities.
**Letters of recommendation and statement outlining goals and objectives are not required for CERTIFICATE programs.

International Student Requirements:
If English is not your native language, you must complete the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) prior to admission. If you have received a bachelor's degree or higher from the United States or English-speaking Canada, you are not required to fulfill the English test requirement.
