Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Women's and GenderStudies
Format: Campus
Program Description:
The Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Women's and Gender Studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro offers a coherent and wide-ranging course of study examining issues of gender, sexuality, race, class, and ethnicity. The program accepts both post-baccalaureate students who wish to prepare for work or further study and graduate students enrolled in other programs who combine the certificate with study for an advanced degree. Through lively and supportive discussions, research, writing, and practicum and internship experience, students develop new understandings of themselves and of society, and of the complex relationships among knowledge, action, and community. The certificate requires a minimum of 15 credit hours, including a core course in feminist theory and either a practicum or independent study, along with electives offered in a wide variety of fields. The Women's and Gender Studies program at UNCG is one of the oldest in the nation and draws on energies of more than a hundred affiliated faculty from seventeen departments and schools. The cooperation of faculty and students offers numerous possibilities for collaborative work.
