Labor relations is an interdisciplinary, problem-solving field whose practitioners attempt to maintain harmony and resolve conflicts among the four major parties involved in the employment relationship: employees, employers, government and, where applicable, unions. The profession is concerned with all aspects of employment and, in particular, with an organization's maintenance of the human resources necessary to achieve objectives.
