Program Description:

The Communication Disorders Department offers the pre-professional BSEd degree in Speech-Language Pathology, online Pre-SLP coursework, and the MSEd degree in Communication Disorders. The MSEd is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. The Department's facilities in the College of Education include 17 clinical treatment rooms which can be monitored by faculty/staff from their offices, complete auditory testing facilities, speech and hearing science laboratories, an assistive technology center, seminar and study rooms, and computer lab. Technology is used for academic and clinical instruction. A mobile van is equipped for speech-language and hearing testing at remote locations. Typical class sizes are 20-25 undergraduate and 15-18 graduate. Some undergraduate and graduate courses are offered on-line through distance education.
During the past 5 years upon completion of the graduate program 100% of graduates have passed the Praxis II professional exam and have accepted employment in either a school or clinical setting.
Beginning in the Summer 2011, 30 credit hours of Pre-SLP coursework will be offered completely online. These courses are designed primarily for individuals who have undergraduate degrees in fields other than speech-language pathology.
