Program Description:
The MU Sinclair School of Nursing offers the master of science in nursing with a specialty in nursing education by combining online theoretical courses and clinical practice to provide students with the essential knowledge and skills to function in the role of a nurse educator. Graduating nurse educators are qualified to work in PN, ASN or BSN programs or to be an in-service educatorÆs staff development coordinator; a staff educator in a practice setting, such as a hospital, rehabilitation center or public-health or home-health agency; or a nurse researcher. The degree program requires 39 to 42 online semester credit hours, including six hours in one of four areas of concentration ù adult health, mental health, women's health or pediatrics. The nurse educator preparation may lead to a student's decision to obtain a doctoral degree with the goal of pursuing an academic career in higher education.
