MUÆs mental health curriculum is for professionals who work with children and adolescents, including teachers, administrators, psychologists, counselors, nurses, social workers, speech/language pathologists and occupational therapists. This program is designed to equip professionals to address the significant mental health issues facing todayÆs schools and students. Professionals will gain awareness of these issues, knowledge of how they affect student academic and social performance, and the skills to promote positive student outcomes. In addition, the program is designed to provide professionals with the awareness and skills to promote their own resilience and mental well-being. This program is composed of core courses and courses focused in mental health practices in schools. It does not provide school counselor certification. The educational specialist degree requires credit hours beyond a masterÆs degree. The master of education and the educational specialist degree with a focus in mental health practices in schools are the first online programs of their kind nationally.
