Program Description:
This APA-approved program, a member program of the Academy of Psychological Clinical Science, provides a comprehensive background in basic areas of psychology and extensive research training with an emphasis on the study of psychopathology. The program is designed to train research scientists. Students are given a solid foundation in assessment, interviewing, behavioral and other modes of intervention, and other clinical skills.Students can apply for either the general clinical program, or our Developmental Psychopathology and Clinical Science (DPCS) joint program offered in collaboration with the Institute of Child Development. Students in the general clinical program will develop a strong background in psychosocial and biological aspects of adult and child/adolescent psychopathology, and can take a supporting program in psychophysiology, personality research, behavior genetics, or other content areas of clinical psychology that are of particular interest. Those in the DPCS program study psychopathology in the context of development, and obtain a strong background in clinical psychology and child development. In addition to course work, both the general clinical and DPCS programs include a research apprenticeship, assessment and therapy clinical practica, and an internship.
