Program Description:
Teaching and research programs include molecular, biochemical, cellular, developmental, physiological, organismal, ecological, and evolutionary biology of plants, algae, and fungi. Specific areas of research include genomics, gene expression, chromosome structure, organelle biogenesis, plant growth substances, response to stress, metabolic activities during development, cellular structure, and ultrastructure of vascular and nonvascular plants, the cytoskeleton in morphogenesis, aquatic biology, lichenology, molecular evolution and systematics, mycology, palynology, and physiology. The programs allow for flexibility and the inclusion of courses from a variety of related areas.
