Program Description:
The Master of Social Work is a 60 credit hour degree program. With this professional degree, you will be vital to enhancing the social welfare systems that create and maintain a functioning society. The University of Michigan Social Work (U-M SSW) Program is dedicated to the training of social workers for roles and careers that have centrality and leverage within social welfare systems. This full-time program can be completed in 16 consecutive months, or in 20 months over two academic years. Students eligible for advanced standing can complete the MSW degree in 12 months.
U-M SSW features nine different concentrations in the dual concentration MSW program. All students select a practice method and practice area:

Eligibility Requirements:
Students are required to have taken a human biology course or a course on the biological determinants of human behavior prior to admission in the program. Students who do not meet the requirements may be admitted on the condition that these requirements are met prior to enrollment in the MSW program. Admitted applicants who do not meet the liberal arts or the human biology/ biological determinants of human behavior criteria will be notified in their letter of admission of the specific conditions that must be met.
