Program Description:

The decision of where to go to graduate school is one that will greatly affect your career and your life. Our faculty members believe that the Macromolecular Science and Engineering Center graduate program offers you the best of all possible choices for the following reasons.

As a graduate student, you can choose to work for one (or more) of the 29 members of the Macro faculty. What other Polymer Science and Engineering programs offer this choice?

These faculty represent multiple fields in three schools covering disciplines ranging from Life Sciences, to Chemistry, to Medicine to Engineering. Many faculty bridge different disciplines. Thus multiple research opportunities are available depending on your goals. Furthermore, the opportunity exists to personalize your program of study.

The Macro program has a 36 year history. We have produced more than 150 graduates including more than 100 Ph.Ds. Of these, 28 have become faculty members at colleges and universities big and small, four this year. Others head research groups at research institutions or serve as VPs of large corporations. These individuals offer wonderful networking opportunities.

The University of Michigan itself is a major research university that also offers an exceptional research environment and excellent networking opportunities.

Finally, the city of Ann Arbor is ranked in the top 25 most livable cities in the country. You can enjoy all of the culture of a big city without the hassles.
