Program Description:

CREES is proud to offer several graduate degree options in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies including the M.A.; the certificate of graduate studies; and dual degrees with business, law, and public policy. CREES also invites graduate and professional students in other University of Michigan departments to apply to become CREES Graduate Student Associates.

REES graduate degrees are interdisciplinary and allow flexibility to students choosing to focus their studies on humanities, social sciences, and professional coursework related to Russia, Eastern Europe, and/or Eurasia. REES degrees are intended to train future academic and professional experts on the region; a key component of this is competency in at least one regional language.

Accreditation:

The University of Michigan receives its institutional accreditation status from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), an independent corporation that holds membership in the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA). The NCA is one of six regional agencies that provide institutional accreditation on a geographical basis as part of a national accreditation structure in which non-governmental agencies accredit institutions of higher education.

Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants to the REES M.A. program must have completed a bachelor's degree. Those admitted to the program typically present GRE scores in the mid-600s, as well as an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.25. (Applicants to the Business Administration or Law dual degree programs may substitute GMAT or LSAT scores.)
