Program Description:
The Master of Design Performance is a graduate coursework degree taken over one year of full-time study.
Admission is based on completion of an Honours year in a relevant field, or the equivalent in professional practice, and an audition and interview.
Course Features
This new one-year Masters in Design for Performance, with streams in lighting, sound, and set and costume, provides the designer with an expanded set of skills and experiences, and an advanced entry into the performance design profession. Students work on a range of exciting projects, and expert design staff provide guidance and skill development. To complement the designers’ work for performance, the course offers complementary skills in writing from/after performance (critical reviews, poetic responses, exegesis writing).
Pathway to further study
* At the successful completion of this one year degree, students will be eligible to apply for entry into a coursework doctorate.
Career Outcomes
Graduates of this masters degree will work in a variety of national and international performance design contexts, including mainstream plays, dance and music theatre, independent companies and projects, collaborative/devised projects, new form performance and performances in a variety of cultural and community settings.
