Program Description:
The Master of Contemporary Art is a two-year, full-time postgraduate professional degree for artists.
Admission requires a relevant undergraduate or Honours degree in visual or fine arts or a related discipline; a Graduate Certificate in Visual Art; or an extensive, documented career as an artist.
The Master of Contemporary Art serves as -
•A bridge between undergraduate study and independent art practice;
•A “refresher” program for artists who have been away from formal study;
•An entry point to tertiary education for mature artists who lack formal qualifications but have significant professional experience;
•An alternative route to study for a research higher degree including for those of recognised ability but who have been unable to complete an Honours year.
Pathway to Further Study
•After successful completion of the degree at an appropriate level, students will be eligible to apply for entry into a research higher degree.
Exit Qualification
The Postgraduate Diploma of Contemporary Art is an exit qualification for students who have successfully completed the first year (100 points) of the course should the decision be made to not continue into the second year. The Postgraduate Diploma cannot be applied for directly
