Program Description:
The UMDNJ-Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences has a multidisciplinary Biomedical Sciences program. The program is directed toward individuals interested in careers in the pharmaceutical industry or in improving their science base for application to medical, dental or veterinary school. The Master of Biomedical Science and the Certificate in Biomedical Science programs have specified core requirements, but is flexible in order to accommodate the diverse needs and interests of the students. The core of the program includes courses in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Systems Biology, and Seminar in Biomedical Sciences. The student then may choose electives in pharmacology, anatomy, physiology, and related areas. The program includes an option for laboratory experience and a research thesis, if the student is interested in a research-based Masters degree. The Masters program is primarily designed as a non-thesis program that can be completed within two years, but can be done in a year or extended up to four years. The Certificate program can be completed in one year if the student is first enrolled in the fall semester.
