Program Description:
Graduate research in Experimental Pathology is directed toward a clearer understanding of the mechanisms of disease at the cellular and molecular levels. The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology offers acomprehensive doctoral program for graduate students anticipating careers in biomedical research and teaching. Each student's program is designed individually, in consultation with a faculty advisor. The core curriculumconsists of courses in microanatomy, biochemistry, immunology, cellular pathology and general pathology. General Pathology deals with cellular and issue reactions to infectious agents; metabolic, genetic, and immunologicabnormalities; and perturbations of growth, including neoplasia.
