Program Information
Degree Offered
M.S;, Ph.D.
Program Description:
The Department of Chemistry offers both the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in chemistry, with concentrations in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, chemical physics, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, and physical chemistry. The research projects are clustered into two main areas: chemical catalysis and biohealth-related chemical studies. Several of these projects involve strong and successful interactions with faculty members in other departments, such as chemical and electrical engineering and physics within the context of chemical catalysis, and the departments of biochemistry, ophthalmology and visual sciences, pharmacology, and toxicology in projects related to the synthesis of biologically relevant molecules and the understanding of complex biochemical phenomena. Chemistry graduates are well trained to enter their professional careers with expertise in cutting-edge technologies and scientific knowledge.
