Program Description:

M.Ed.-Elementary Education
The Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction provides innovative courses in elementary education (1-5) that extend knowledge attained at the undergraduate level. The program prepares the classroom teacher with the most up-to-date strategies in technology and research-based methods that are aligned with the Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI), a specialized association recognized by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The 36 hour plan offers a majority of the courses online and some are taught during evening hours in order to facilitate participation by full-time teachers. The degree plan is composed of courses in elementary education, curriculum, and research with a one-semester internship in the teacher’s classroom. In lieu of a comprehensive exam, students produce a culminating teaching portfolio.
