Program Description:

This joint degree programme provides an exceptional opportunity for those with a professional or academic interest in Emergency Planning and Management to further develop their knowledge and understanding of a complex area of study. The course adopts a multidisciplinary approach to issues in emergency planning and applies a wide range of relevant theoretical perspectives including: risk and risk management theory, models and modelling techniques in crisis and disaster management, analysis of decision-making processes, and theories or organisational behaviour and learning. A number of detailed case studies and issue-specific taught courses are included at all stages of the programme in order to facilitate a practical understanding of the use and applicability of such theoretical approaches.
In addition to examining case studies and modelling techniques the course also offers students the opportunity to undertake supervised research in an area of personal or professional interest.
