Program Description:
This doctoral program builds upon ULV's well established tradition of community service and prepares its graduates to function competently and responsibly in multicultural, diverse, and pluralistic societies. It is anchored in an integration of clinical and community psychology and grounded in the promotion of an ecological perspective where human behavior is understood within the context of interacting systems that are multi-level, multidimensional, and multi-directional. Its core mission is to train scholar-practitioners who will think criticaly, promote social justice, apply their knowledge diligently, and practice ethically and compassionately as culturally competent providers of clinical and prevention services and as agents of social change for individuals, groups, communities, and organizations.
Accreditation:
In addition to regional accreditation (Western Association of Schools and Colleges), The University of La Verne's Psy.D. in Clinical-Community Psychology is accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA).
Eligibility Requirements:
Three letters of recommendation attesting to applicant's academic/clinical fieldwork, ability to function competently as a professional psychologist; a statement of purpose (not to exceed 500 words); an autobiographical statement (not to exceed 1000 words), and a current curriculum vitae. Individuals with graduate-level coursework may petition for a maximum of 30 transfer credits, and must submit transcripts showing degrees, while also documenting a minimum GPA of 3.5.

International Student Requirements:
The University of La Verne is authorized to issue an I-20 only after international applicants have been accepted for admission and have submitted the $200 non-refundable tuition deposit. International students with F-1 or J-1 visas may apply to and attend only the Central Campus. To apply for admission, international applicants must submit all of the application materials required, as well as a notarized original statement indicating how the student will meet the financial obligations for graduate study at La Verne.
