Program Description:
The Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering is comprised of twenty faculty andapproximately forty full-time graduate students. Active areas of research include: aerosol dynamics,biocellular engineering, environmental engineering, fuel science, membrane science, polymerengineering, supercritical fluids processing, transport phenomena, ceramic and electronic materialsprocessing, fiber composite materials, metal processing and physical metallurgy, and synthesis andcharacterization of nanophase materials. Many of these research activities are multi-disciplinary innature, and involve faculty and graduate students from a variety of other Departments and Centers. These include the Center for Applied Energy Research, the Center of Membrane Sciences, the Centerfor Manufacturing Systems, and the Center for Computational Sciences.
