Program Description:
The global economy is contested social and political terrain – as much as ever before in history. From social movements opposing globalisation, to new oil pipelines across Central Asia, to scandals racking bourses across the world, to corporate social responsibility, questions of international political economy are high on the global agenda. Core issues concerning the relationship between the state, market, and society – the ways in which different social and economic priorities are mediated through politics – have become part of a worldwide debate. Understanding it is crucial for anyone who wishes to become involved in today's global political economy.
