Program Information
Degree Offered
M.A. - Slavic Languages and Literatures, Ph.D. - Slavic Languages and Literatures
Program Description:
The University of Kansas is the only university in the central United States to offer the doctoral degree in Slavic Languages and Literatures. The department has a full array of language, literature, and linguistics courses for students interested in the study of Russian, Polish, and Croatian/Serbian, and occasionally offers courses in Bulgarian, Czech, Slovene, Ukrainian, and other Slavic languages and literatures. Particular strengths are in Russian intellectual history and Western-South Slavic Linguistics (BCS, Slovene). While working in a department that offers an uncommonly supportive and congenial atmosphere, students are given considerable latitude to plan programs of study that fit their individual needs.
