Program Description:
The Department of Religious Studies offers two programs leading to the Master of Arts degree. The first, consisting of 30 graduate credit hours, requires a thesis that may count as up to 3 of those hours. The second is a nonthesis program that requires the completion of 33 graduate hours. In both programs, the student must work in each of three curriculum divisions, take one course in research methods and approaches to the study of religion, and take a comprehensive examination (oral and written) in an area of specialization.Course work must include the study of religions outside Western traditions.
