Program Description:
Informatics denotes an emerging field of study at the intersection of the computational disciplines with the humanities, arts, and the natural, biological, health, and social sciences. Largely fueled by the rapid development of information technology within an intricate socio-economic infrastructure, the way we do science, how we think about health care delivery, the mechanics of our scholarship, our forms of artistic expression, and even the pattern of our social and legal interactions, are changing every day. These changes are both permanent and profound. In order to address the problems and the opportunities that arise, the University of Iowa has established an Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Informatics (IGPI). This new interdisciplinary program has three subtracks (Health Informatics, Information Science, and Bioinformatics).
