Program Description:

The Iowa Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) is a combined M.D./Ph.D. program that prepares trainees for careers in academic medicine, with emphasis on basic and clinical research. The Program provides an effective means for integration of graduate education and doctoral research with the full compliment of clinical studies necessary for the medical degree. With few exceptions, requirements for the combined M.D. and Ph.D. degrees can be completed in approximately seven years of continuous study.
