Program Description:
Photography is a three-year program which places great importance on aesthetic and personal development through a highly individualized program of study. A critical and historical understanding of the medium and its important place within our culture is stressed through seminars and discussions of relevant literature. Critics and artists are invited to campus to participate in this dialogue. Technical ability and versatility are encouraged, as is an open-minded attitude toward the rapid changes occurring in image-making technology. Our students are encouraged to explore diverse and interdisciplinary ways of expressing ideas ranging from traditional and alternative photographic processes to installations, video, and digital art on the Internet. They are encouraged to take advantage of the wealth of courses and guest speakers this major university offers in academic areas as well. Our students receive substantial personal attention and have the opportunity to take courses from each of the members of the photography faculty. We accept highly motivated, energetic and mature students and support them in the achievement of their professional goals. Deadline is January 1, 2007, GRE or GMAT exams are not required.
