Program Information

Degree Offered

Urban Education Leadership (Ed.D.)

Format: Campus

Program Description:

The Ed.D. in Urban Education Leadership was designed to develop principals and administrative educational leaders capable of transforming low-performing urban schools, systems, and entire districts. The program includes at least three years of site-based coaching by former principals who have transformed urban schools and three years of field assessment aimed at producing candidates with proven ability as school change agents. The program has a strong emphasis on collection and analysis of data at the school level, which often results in a data-based dissertation that focuses on strategies of leadership practice.

Our Ed.D in Urban Education Leadership is an innovative program for teachers, school leaders, and district leaders committed to transforming low performing schools in metropolitan areas. This intensive, highly-selective cohort model combines coursework with supervised practicum experience. As a degree candidate, you will conduct research on genuine problems of leadership practice in
urban education.

You may choose from three concentrations leading to:

* Type 75 General Administrative Certificate
* Illinois Superintendent Endorsement
* General Study Strand
