Program Description:
The program prepares graduates to teach English to adults in the U.S. in academic and non-academic programs (ESL), as well as to learners around the world (EFL).
It offers students the benefits of a sound theoretical foundation through course work as well as practical teaching experience. Classes cover language teaching methods, materials development, testing, pedagogical approaches to grammar, second language learning research, and introductions to linguistics and sociolinguistics.
Over the years, students in the program have come from the greater Chicago area and elsewhere in the United States, as well as from South and Central America, Africa, Asia, and Europe.
