Program Description:

The huge expansion in the media industry both nationally and globally has created a need for trained management professionals. There have been critical comments from companies operating in the industry that first degree candidates and those with traditional craft skills do not have enough of a management focus to their media knowledge. This MA will provide that focus. The program provides a clarity of purpose, to give the postgraduate and/or practising media manager a comprehensive theoretical underpinning to his or her chosen management career path in the film and television industry. Together the University Business School and West Herts College have designed the MA to help improve the academic knowledge and the skills required by the manager in the film and television industry. The program builds upon the experience of the Business School in providing management education and the strengths of the School of Media at West Herts College, which offers industry validated media production courses. The program has been structured to allow flexibility of course provision to enable you both to meet your personal needs more closely and to gain a qualification that has been devised in close consultation with representatives of the film and televisionindustry.
