Program Description:

This course guides you towards a structured approach to both hardware and software design. It enables you to make a major contribution to the development of electronic systems in industry and medical related fields, where extensive employment opportunities continue to be available for skilled personnel. It is designed primarily as an updating course for electrical and electronic engineering graduates and as a conversion course for graduates in other disciplines who wish to be able to take advantage of the diverse employmentprospects in electronics based industries. The course emphasises the use of appropriate CAD techniquesand the application of VLSI circuit design to digital electronic systems. The course provides a programme of study in electronics, with particular emphasis on communication systems, digital systems, medical systems or optoelectronics which may be studied in ways appropriate to students' needs. A wide range of computing resources are available to all students. Teaching laboratories are well equipped with microcomputers for experimental purposes and to support many of the research activities of the department.
