M.Sc.- Composition
Format: Campus
Program Description:
This is a practical postgraduate scheme aimed at the composer interested in developing skills in the use of computers and technology in the field of musical composition. In addition to exploring important aspects of Twentieth century composition, the MSc Composition aims to develop, in a practical manner, compositional skills and techniques to an up-to-date advanced professional level. It will therefore place particular emphasis on the use and integration of state-of-the-art computer and electronic technology alongside conventional instrumental resources. Teaching takes place in the Music Centre, which in the last few years has become a centre of excellence in the teaching of electro-acoustic music. In addition to its growing computer and technical resources, the Centre maintains a long-standing relationship with the Hatfield Philharmonic, a large-scale community orchestra, and students will be encouraged to take advantage of this association.
