Program Description:
The School Psychology program is an integrated, 66-credit program of study designed to lead to both the MS degree in School Psychology, with a specialization in Clinical Child Counseling, and a Sixth-Year certificate and endorsement for professional certification as a school psychologist. The School Psychology program in the Department of Psychology at the University of Hartford reflects an integrated program in professional psychology designed to prepare school psychologists with particular competencies to work with children, families, and educational programs. The program is designed to prepare highly qualified practitioners whose primary role is to maximize learning and developmental opportunities for children and adolescents, with an appreciation for the impact of educational and developmental opportunities throughout the life span. Specifically, the program strives to produce clinicians who will meet employment demands requiring services involving: 1) assessment and diagnosis, 2) counseling and psychotherapy, and 3) consultation and collaboration. The School Psychology program is nationally approved through the National Association of School Psychologists and National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education partnership (NASP/NCATE). The School Psychology program may only be completed on a full-time basis.

Eligibility Requirements:
The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in psychology from an
accredited collegiate institution and should have achieved at least a B average in
undergraduate courses. In addition, he/she must submit scores for the General GRE
(Graduate Record Exam) and the Psychology Subject GRE exam.

International transcripts must be evaluated by WES to assess U.S. equivalency. For more information visit www.wes.org. International applicants need to submit their TOEFL official scores. Min score: 550 paper-based; 79-80 iBT. IELTS is also accepted; min score 6.5. The University of Hartford test code Number is 3436. A certified Guarantor’s Statement of financial support is also required.
