Degree Offered

M.Ed. Elementary Education

Format: Campus

Program Description:

The Master's Degree in Elementary Education (MEd) program is an initial certification program. That means that you do not need to have an undergraduate degree in education to enter the program. You will prepare for initial certification through your graduate study. You may be a recent college graduate with an undergraduate degree in psychology who is now considering a career in teaching. Or, you may have worked for years in the business world and are looking for a complete change in your career. In either case, our program will accommodate your needs.
Upon successful completion of all coursework which includes teaching experiences within schools, a comprehensive exam, and the national Praxis II exam(s), candidates will be recommended for certification. Final awarding of certification comes from the Connecticut State Department of Education (CTSDE).

Teacher certification programs at the University of Hartford are approved by the National Council of Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE)
