Program Description:

Health Informatics (HI) is a science that defines how health information is technically captured, transmitted and utilized. Health informatics can be considered “trans-disciplinary” and focuses on information systems, informatics principles, and information technology as it is applied to the continuum of healthcare delivery. It is an integrated discipline with specialty domains that include management science, management engineering principles, healthcare delivery and public health, patient safety, information science and computer technology.

Health Informatics graduate programs demonstrate uniqueness by offering varied options for practice or research focus. Health informatics practitioners are known as health informaticists or health informaticians. The HI program has adopted and will use the term health informatician.

All courses under the Health Informatics program are delivered in the “hybrid” format, which includes:

live interaction between the instructor and students regularly-scheduled sessions, held typically online once per week, during the early evenings. Synchronous audio participation requires the purchase and use of a headset and microphone. Asynchronous course assignments and activities which are completed on your own, and one 8-hour face-to-face session scheduled on the final session of each semester.

For The University of Findlay, the regional accrediting organization that accredits the institution as a whole is the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, the nations largest accrediting body.

Eligibility Requirements:

Submit official academic transcripts from all colleges/universities attended
minimum 3.0 GPA for last 64 hours of coursework

International Student Requirements:

Students who are non-English native speakers must achieve at least 550 on a verified Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) paper-based test (PBT), a verified TOEFL Internet-based Teat (iBT) minimum total score of 79 with 20 or better in speaking and 20 or better in writing; at least 213 on a verified TOEFL computer-based test (CBT) or a verified International English Language Testing System (IELTS) academic score with a minimum overall band score of 7.0. IELP students enrolled in Level V must complete the core courses (listening, grammar, reading, composition and communication) with grades of “B-“ or better in order to advance to their graduate programs of study. Students who fail to meet the grade of “B-“ in such courses will have to retake the courses.
