Program Description:

Our master's in TESOL/Bilingual Education Program will prepare you not only as an expert language teacher-practitioner but also for educational leadership positions within second or foreign language and bilingual education programs.

We provide a firm foundation in linguistics, second language acquisition, pedagogy, methodology, curriculum design, assessment and multilingual/multicultural education. Our graduates are not only well prepared for today's job market and/or the pursuit of advanced study in TESOL/Bilingual Education but also as members in regional, national or international TESOL organizations.

Whether your goal is to work with children or adults (in Ohio or a foreign country) or if your plan is to pursue your education to a higher degree, we have a program designed to meet your needs.

Certified Teachers can also obtain a K-12 TESOL Endorsement.


Accreditation:

For The University of Findlay, the regional accrediting organization that accredits the institution as a whole is the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, the nations largest accrediting body.

Eligibility Requirements:

1)Possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
2)Have a minimum undergraduate grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or a minimum GPA of a 3.0 in the last 64 semester hours of undergraduate work.
3)Pay a $25 one-time application fee.
4)Supply three letters of recommendation
5)Submit official transcripts of all college-level work.
6)Include a copy of teaching certificate(s) or license(s) when applicable.

International Student Requirements:

Students whose native language is not English and who have not graduated from American universities must meet the previously listed admissions conditions, plus: Score at least 550 on a verified Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) paper-based test (PBT)*; a verified TOEFL Internet Based Test (iBT) minimum total score of 79-80 with 20 or better in speaking and 20 or better in writing; at least 213 on a verified TOEFL computer-based test (CBT) or a verified International English Language Testing System (IELTS) academic score with a minimum overall band score of 7.0. Provide an affidavit of financial support (original), if not an American citizen. *For the TESOL and Bilingual Education Program, the Test of Spoken English is required.
