Program Information
Degree Offered
M.Sc.- Environment and Development
Format: Campus
Program Description:
Taught by an eminent team of development experts, this MSc is designed to equip graduates with an analytically-rigorous but broadly-based understanding of the relations between environment and development at the global, national and local levels. It provides an opportunity to explore the major economic, political and social issues in policy debates, including international environmental accords, and the opportunities and constraints in national and local planning of the development and environment interface. The programme brings a critical but constructive approach to academic writing on environmental and development issues as well as to treatments of the subject in the popular press and campaigning literature. You will study courses in Resource Development and Conservation, Policy Contexts of Environment and Development, and Environment and Society, and will have the opportunity to take optional courses in subjects ranging from the theory of development to environmental economics. This programme is in receipt of an ESRC open competition award.
