Program Description:
This programme offers a thorough academic and professional training to those already working in rural development in developing countries, and to those wishing to so. Mainly concerned with rural poverty, livelihoods, and rural project methods, it offers an overview of broad ideas in rural development and how they have evolved over the past two decades. It then moves on to examine different approaches to the assessment or measurement of rural poverty, and an in-depth study of the livelihoods approach to rural poverty reduction. Students are invited to consider various methods used in setting up and running rural poverty reduction projects, including participatory methods,stakeholder analysis, and project frameworks.
