JOB MARKET
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, demand for health information professionals will increase by 20 percent through 2018. The growth in demand for healthcare informatics professionals has been fueled by the increased demand on healthcare in general by the aging population and incentives from the government. These circumstances provide for unprecedented investment and expansion of health information technology in the United States. The use of Electronic Health Records (EHRs) is expanding across the country. Most health care providers in Southeast Michigan already use or are in the process of implementing EHRs.
